A couple of days ago, we celebrated ten years of living in Australia—a country we now proudly call home. This land inspires me to create, to smile, and to immerse myself in art.
For a few years, I hadn’t painted outside, but I recently decided it was time to change that. I packed my backpack with art supplies and ventured into the bush, carrying a huge 2m x 135cm roll of canvas. True to my style—big, bold, and expressive!
It was just me, the birds, something big moving among the plants behind me (probably a bunny—definitely not a wallaby or goanna), gumtrees, banksias, and the ancient hilltop that held my canvas. The joy and meditative state of reconnecting with nature were profound.
Being in the heart of the bush, surrounded by the raw beauty of Australia, reminded me of why this country continues to inspire my art. What a wonderful way to celebrate a decade of calling this place home!
