About

Katerina-Apale-Australian-Artist-2025_edited.jpg

Katerina Apale is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, and textiles. Originally from Latvia, she holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Art Academy of Latvia and studied at the Berlin University of the Arts through the Erasmus program.

Her practice is driven by an intuitive approach to colour, texture, and materiality. Since moving to Australia in 2014, Katerina has been exploring still lifes, floral motifs, and experimental textile techniques, creating expressive compositions that bridge traditional and contemporary approaches.

Katerina’s work blends European influences with the vivid energy of Australia, resulting in dynamic pieces that capture movement, emotion, and atmosphere.
